Response of growth and production of golden berries (Physalis peruviana) to the application of various types of manure and botanical pesticides
Abstract
Golden berries (Physalis peruviana.) is a plant that has medicinal functions and can be consumed directly as fresh fruit. This plant is susceptible to pests and disease and is not widely cultivated in Indonesia, so production is still very low. This research aims to compare the effect of types of manure on the growth and production of golden berries, compare the effect of several types of botanical pesticides on the growth and production of golden berries, and find the best combination of manure and botanical pesticides on the growth and production of golden berries. The research was conducted from May to September 2023 at the Lampung State Polytechnic Horticulture Greenhouse. The results of this research show the best growth response to the treatment of giving chicken manure based on the variables of plant height and number of leaves. Golden berries production was better in the combination treatment of goat manure and neem pesticide. The application of botanical pesticides also affects the production of golden berries fruit based on the variables of the number of productive branches, the number of fruit per plant and the production of fruit that is not attacked by pests and diseases. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the application of manure and botanical pesticides can increase the production of golden berries fruit.
