Abstract

The use of indigofera leaves (Indigofera zollingeriana) meal as a raw material source of plant protein in fish has been reported in previous research as an alternative substitute for soybean meal. Utilization of protein sources from plant is due to the limited content of essential amino acids, especially lysine and methionine. This study aims to evaluate the chemical composition of feed made from indigofera leaves meal hydrolysate (ILMH) supplemented with these essential amino acids. The feed consisted of 5 compositions, namely A (20% SBM; 0% ILMH; 0% methionine and 0% lysine), B (10% SBM; 10% ILMH; 0% methionine and 0% lysine), C (10% SBM; ILMH 10%; methionine 0.2% and lysine 0.3%), D (SBM 10%; ILMH 10%; methionine 0.2% and lysine 0.5%) and E (SBM 0%; ILMH 20%; methionine 0.2% and lysine 0.5%). There were changes in the chemical composition of feed containing indigofera leaf flour hydrolysate supplemented with the essential amino acids methionine and lysine. Protein content increased in all feed treatments supplemented with these two amino acids. The highest increase in feed protein was in the feed composition containing 20% ILMH with 0.3% methionine and 0.5% lysine, namely 7.9%, while the carbohydrate content decreased by 7.94%.
