Optimization model of food distribution using vehicle routing problem approach
Abstract
The main challenges for the food industry including distribution networks management, improving customer satisfaction and maintain the industry efficiency cost This research contributes to optimizing food product delivery based on routes and times to achieve consumers satisfaction. This study utilizes the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) approach to select the optimal proposed routes. The optimal proposed routes by VRP and the current distribution routes were compares to find the best solution. This paper addresses a case study in a food industry that requires efficiency in the delivery of food. Based on the calculation results, it is found that the routes generated by the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) method are more optimal because they have a smaller total distance with an efficiency rate of 51.89% from actual condition and 36.7% compared to Travelling Salesman Problem (TSP) method. Through conducted tests, the VRP method has proven to be capable of optimizing distance savings and completion time in food product distribution.
