Generating user story scenario from SALT GUI
Abstract
Wireframes and user story scenarios (USS) are essential in the requirements engineering process. Wireframes will help developers to provide an idea of how the system will work. These artifacts must be confirmed with user story scenarios to evaluate the proposed solution or design that meets the user’s needs. However, assessing wireframes with user story scenarios becomes complicated because ongoing product backlog management can be time-consuming and error-prone. To increase effectiveness and efficiency, it is necessary to automatically transform wireframes into user story scenarios to encourage the initial design evaluation process. This study proposes a method to produce user story scenarios from the SALT GUI. We propose a method with the help of Regular Expression, Agile development, Django, and JavaScript framework. Regular expression is used to identify the project’s user-story context and break down the components from the SALT wireframe code. The SALT Wireframe component completes the user story scenario’s ’given,’ ’when,’ and ’then’ statements. The proposed method can detect SALT GUI elements to generate user story scenarios with a detection rate of 57.14%. These results were obtained by comparing the number of detected elements and test scenarios with the results from the Behat Web-Mink application. This research shows that SALT GUI wireframes can be used to generate user story scenarios.
