Solar-linked latitude: Enhancing solar energy efficiency through geographic positioning
Abstract
This paper introduces a pioneering concept called "Solar-Linked Latitude" (SLL), which integrates solar energy harvesting with geographic positioning systems to improve navigation and energy sustainability. SLL proposes an additional method that takes advantage of solar radiation patterns and principles of celestial navigation to determine latitude coordinates. By analysing the angle and intensity of incoming solar radiation, coupled with known astronomical data, SLL offers a reliable and independent way to determine latitude, particularly beneficial in areas with limited satellite coverage. Furthermore, the integration of solar energy harvesting technology ensures self-sufficiency and resilience in the power supply, making it suitable for off-grid applications. This paper discusses the theoretical framework of SLL, presents simulation results that confirm its accuracy, and explores potential applications across various sectors, including navigation, disaster management and renewable energy systems. Overall, Solar-Linked Latitude introduces a paradigm shift in geographic positioning and energy autonomy.
