Abstract

Dendrobium sp is one of the most popular and cultivated orchid species in Indonesia. Orchids are plants that grow quite slowly. The use of proper planting media and fertilizer application can support plant growth. The purpose of this study was to obtain the right composition of planting media and Growmore fertilizer concentration to support the growth and development of compote orchid seedlings Dendrobium sp. This research was conducted at Lampung State Polytechnic from June 2023 to September 2023. The treatment of this study consists of 2 factors, the first factor is the composition of the media which consists of 3 levels, namely fern+wood charcoal (1: 1) (PA); fern+coconut fiber (1: 1) (PS) and coconut fiber+wood charcoal (1: 1) (AS), then the second factor is the concentration of Growmore fertilizer which consists of 3 levels, namely: 0 g/l (G0); 2 g/l (G1); 4 g/l (G2). The results showed that the treatment of fern+wood charcoal planting media composition added with Growmore fertilizer concentration of 4 g/l produced the best results in all observation parameters, namely plant height 18.2 cm, number of leaves 12.8 leaves, leaf length 10.34 cm and leaf width 4.02 cm.
