Abstract

In its development, coffee plant propagation efforts are an important factor in supporting superior planting material. In coffee plants, plant propagation is divided into 2, namely generative and vegetative. In robusta coffee, of course the propagation method used is vegetative because of the cross-pollinated character of robusta coffee. One way of propagation is cuttings. Efforts are being made to increase productivity by using planting materials that are suitable for field environmental conditions and appropriate cultivation technology as well as maintaining quality and increasing value. Some planting materials that are widely recommended as planting materials are clones BP 936, BP 358 and BP 534. Furthermore, to support good plants, suitable planting media and an environment are needed. One of them is organic material, in this case compost. Several things such as temperature, humidity and light are crucial factors that will influence the plant, so it is necessary to know how big the relationship between the planting medium, clones and the environment is in influencing the growth of robusta coffee plants. This research used a randomized block design which was arranged factorially with factor 1 type of clone and factor 2 planting media (combination of top soil and compost). The results of the research show that the use of planting media in the form of a mixture of topsoil and compost with a ratio of 1:1 is able to optimize the growth of coffee seedlings in the nursery for all observed variables.
