Thermal dileptons production from the QGP in the intermediate mass region
Abstract
A momentum distribution function incorporating quark number density and temperature was constructed. Based on the reaction mechanism of quantum chromodynamics and the Bjorken hydrodynamic model, the production expression of thermal dileptons from the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) was derived. The calculated QGP thermal radiation was combined with the dilepton contributions from the semileptonic decays of charm and bottom hadrons (i.e., DD¯ and BB¯ decays) and the meson. This total theoretical result was compared with the data of experimental intermediate invariant mass (1 < M < 3 GeV/c2) dileptons from Au + Au collisions at 200 AGeV, measured by the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL). Based on this comprehensive model, the initial temperature of the QGP is predicted. The results show that the total theoretical dilepton yield (QGP thermal emission + meson decays) agrees well with the RHIC experimental data across the intermediate mass region. This model validates the significant influence of quark number density on the dilepton production rate, providing a reliable theoretical basis for extracting thermodynamic parameters of the QGP, such as temperature and number density.
