Abstract

This research examines the improvement of physical, thermal, and mechanical properties of polyethylene-based composites by using eggshell nanoparticles as reinforcing agents together using organic polymers such as maize derivatives and starch. To improve the compatibility between As a compatibilizer, 4% by weight of maleic anhydride was added to the polyethylene matrix along with natural additives. Polyethylene-wood composites have gained increasing attention for their potential in sustainable applications across various industries, including automotive, construction, and furniture, due to their advantageous properties like thermal stability, flexibility in cold environments, and resistance to UV degradation and oxidation. Tensile and bending tests were used in the study to assess the improved composites’ mechanical qualities. The results show that the addition of maleic anhydride and eggshell nanoparticles leads to notable improvements in mechanical strength and interfacial bonding, making these polyethylene-based composites highly suitable for eco-friendly industrial applications.
