Abstract

The deficit in food availability will increase further with the conversion of paddy fields to non-rice fields, stagnation in productivity growth due to an increase in genetic capacity which is already stagnant, and climate influences. The new 8th generation (F8) rice line was successfully assembled by Polinela Breeders. The phenotypic appearance of the F7 generation shows superior characters that need further research. The aim of the research is to test the yield potential of seven new 8th generation (F8) rice lines assembled by Polinela, to find out which lines have high yield potential as candidates for new superior varieties. Research was designed with a Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD), Nine rice genotypes as treatments, namely seven 8th generation rice lines, and two varieties as comparison. Each unit will be repeated three times. The variables observed were plant height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers, flowering age, harvest age, average panicle length, average number of empty grains per panicle, grain yield per clump, grain yield/Ha. The data was analyzed for variance, if there were significant differences between treatments, further tests were carried out using the BNT test at alpha 0.05. The research results showed that the GB1, GB2, GB3, GB3.3, and GB6 lines had equivalent potential to the Inpari 48 and Inpari 32 varieties, while two lines, namely the GB4 and GB5 lines, had lower yield potential than Inpari 48. but equivalent to the Inpari 32 variety.
