Utilization of wireless sensor networks to monitor soil moisture in chili plants
Abstract
Chili plants are a vegetable product that is needed by many people, both locally and globally. Chili farmers water their plants without focusing soil moisture on the chili plants, they only regularly water their plants at the beginning of the day and evening, which has become their habit. This technique has many disadvantages, including the form of humidity that does not match the ideal conditions needed for the development of chili plants. Adjustments to the microclimate around the chili plants are carried out so that the plants that have been developed can grow and grow well. Air and soil humidity, air and soil temperature are parts of the microclimate that greatly influence plant growth, and both are related to creating ideal natural conditions for plants. Soil moisture can affect the development of chili plants, such as leaf development, stem height and chili stem width. By utilizing chili seedbed media, the required soil moisture is around 60% - 80% for ideal growth. By utilizing a remote sensor system to determine soil moisture in chili plants, including a soil moisture sensor to see changes in soil moisture to regulate the irrigation system for chili plants. Where there is an FC-28 soil moisture sensor. This framework construction consists of a singleboard ESP8266 microcontroller used. Arduino Uno is a microcontroller used to handle analog signals from sensors with a Continuous Clock. The ESP8266 is used as a connection point to handle the connection to the cellphone to access the web via wireless communication.
