Business feasibility of straw mushroom made from oil palm empty fruit bunches at pilot plan scale
Abstract
The utilization of EFB has not been maximized, this is not proportional to the amount of EFB produced in the processing of fresh fruit bunches into CPO. The utilization of empty palm fruit bunches in mushroom cultivation can be an alternative to minimize costs and reduce the possibility of environmental pollution. In the development of the mushroom business, there are investment and operational costs needed to support production activities, on the other hand, in developing the mushroom business in the future, entrepreneurs must be faced with several possible risks that will be faced, namely an increase in the price of production inputs, a decrease in productivity, and the selling price of mushroom which will have an impact on revenue and profits received, for this reason it is necessary to conduct a feasibility study to determine the level of feasibility of the business. This study aims to determine the feasibility of mushroom business made from palm empty fruit bunches on a pilot plan scale based on market and marketing aspects, technical and technological aspects, and financial aspects. The research method used was descriptive method. The results showed that the market and marketing aspects were in the feasible category, the technical and technological aspects were in the feasible category, and the financial aspects were in the feasible category with an NPV value IDR 120.623.680, IRR 78%, Net B/C 2,8790, and PBP 0 year 7 months 26 days.
