Abstract

Due to toxic nature of used mineral oil, its disposal becomes a very serious concern as it can pollute environment badly and result in severe health issues. Canola oil is considered to be a good alternative as vegetable based biodegradable lubricating oil. In the current work Canola oil was used in fixed proportions by volume as (5%, 10% and 15%). To analyse the impact of varying load on Canola based lubricant and study properties like friction and wear Pin on disc machine was used. In this study load varying between 30N to 90N was applied. The results predicted that whenever load was increased, friction also increased. Further, maximum friction was obtained at increased load of 90N, it was also concluded that minimum wear resulted with oil blend of 10%.
