Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and improve a sublingual tablet of the drug Vildagliptin which is useful in the treatment of type-II diabetes. Using super disintegrants and the direct compression method was the fundamental strategy employed in the creation of the Sublingual tablet. The term “sublingual” literally means “under the tongue”. Therefore, this technique involves administering the medication orally in order for it to be absorbed by the systemic blood arteries located beneath the tongue. A sublingual medication is one of that breaks down or dissolve inside the mouth without a requirement for water. Watersoluble medications dissolving characteristics and bioavailability have long been enhanced by the use of sublingual tablets. In the preformulation investigations, Vildagliptins physicochemical characteristics-such as its melting point, solubility, partition coefficient, and the use of a Fourier transform infrared and ultraviolet spectroscopy—were defined. In order to quantify the medication, a UV spectroscopic approach was developed, and 232 nm was discovered to be the absorption maxima. The formulation of the tablets was done using the direct compression method, shape, size, weight fluctuation, hardness, friability, and wetting time were all factors that were examined in the post-compression investigations to establish the product’s quality.
