Abstract

In this work, attempts have been made to synthesize PAN nanofiber and electrospunfibers with core-shell structure by using Sol-gel method, electrospinning process and then carbonization process. The synthesized PAN nanofibers and core-shell nano fibers were reviewed based on the types of fibers and their structures and properties according to their uses. Subsequently, fabricated PAN and Core-shell nanofibers of pure particles were characterized by XRD measurement, EDS, SEM, TG-DTA and RAMAN spectroscopy analysis to unveil the nature of particles. From XRD pattern all the prepared carbon nanofibers of PAN and core-shell samples have similar hexagonal structure. In the EDS analysis of the prepared fibers, existence of the carbon molecule and the trace amount of oxygen was proved. The total weight loss was further advanced to 60 % in the temperature between 4000C- 7000C in the TG-DTA of prepared PAN and core-shell nanofibers. In SEM analysis of the present work, it has been detected that the size of the PAN nafibersare 550 nm while the core-shell carbon nanofibers has inner core diameters of about 283 nm and outer shell diameter of about 569 nm. From Raman spectroscopy spectra, it is observed thatbThere are two broad peaks slightly overlap with each other which are situated at around 1350 cm ^-1 and 1600 cm^-1. These are well-identified D and G peaks and were analyzed using Gaussian Lorentzian mixed function. The investigation followed an optimization strategy to define the fabrication-structure property relationships of strong carbon nanofibers from electrospun PAN nanofibers and Core-shell carbon nanofibers.
