Abstract

A series of W-type manganese substitued barium ferrite BaMnxCo2-xFe16O27 (x=0.0-0.6) synthesized by a citrate precursor method. X-Ray Diffraction pattern revealed peaks (110), (114), (116), (201), (205), (302), (305) confirmed the formation of hexagonal phase. Average crystallite size decreased with an increase in manganese concentration from 68 - 39 nm. DC resistivity goes on increasing with an increase in manganese content and found to be in the range 2.3×106 to 1.72×107 Ω-cm. Energy band gap Eg values for composites in the range from 4 eV to 4.35 eV were observed. The values of DC resistivity and energy band gap make them suitable for radar absorbing materials.
