Abstract

The Vostok station was created almost seventy years agtio. Today, it is the only operating domestic inland station in Antarctica. It has been reconstructed and closed for conservation several times. The common problem with all such stations is that they are gradually covered with a thick layer of snow. In addition, its infrastructure is completely outdated. And within the framework of the Federal subprogram "Study and Research of Antarctica", a project to create a new Vostok complex was implemented. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the role of the station in Antarctic research and trends in the further development of the station. When developing the project for the new station, the principles of eco-sustainable architecture as a way to solving environmental problems of Antarctica were used.
