Abstract

This study investigates the integration of game-based learning (GBL) supported by artificial intelligence (AI) in English language teaching (ELT) for young learners. Through semi-structured interviews and classroom observations, the research explores how experienced teachers implement GBL and AI, emphasizing the identification of technological tools, pedagogical integration, content knowledge enhancement, and comprehensive assessment practices. Findings reveal that teachers proactively seek innovative tools, leveraging AI for interactive quizzes, multimedia presentations, and educational games. This approach fosters personalized, engaging learning experiences, enhancing vocabulary, pronunciation, and critical thinking skills. While GBL supported by AI offers numerous benefits such as increased student engagement and effective learning outcomes, challenges include integration complexity, instructional design, and resource management. Addressing these challenges necessitates adequate training, support, and user-friendly AI tools. The study underscores the transformative potential of AI-supported GBL in optimizing language learning and calls for future research on long-term impacts, specific AI tool effects, and student perspectives to refine and enhance this educational approach.
