Abstract

In this study, a mechanism for an integrated assessment of environmental conditions and pollution indicators in a region has been developed based on Harrington's desirability function. A radar chart is used to interpret the obtained data and categorize them into specific linguistic ranges. The use of Harrington scale gradations corresponding to the categories "bad", "satisfactory", and "good" is proposed, suggesting that each specific assessment can be unacceptable, acceptable, or optimal. The paper summarizes the initial indicators of environmental conditions and pollution for the regions of the Southern Federal District, including the Crimean region, which have promising specialization in agriculture. Testing the proposed environmental assessment tool based on Harrington's desirability function demonstrated that this tool can be widely used to implement a sustainable regional development strategy.
