Abstract

A chatbot is an automated system that interacts with customers as humans would and costs little to nothing to engage with. The integration of chats which are, conversational agents, into online learning tools has opened a new dimension for the education platforms. However, this dimension is limited to specific application models and lacks a metamodel and normalization of key features. This research is the first part of a project that aims to address this challenge by proposing a comprehensive and standardized metamodel applicable to a variety of chatbots in educational systems. By synthesizing existing knowledge and leveraging educational perspectives, this metamodel will fill existing gaps and provide practical guidance for designing and managing Chatbots in educational systems effectively. Thus, this paper analyses currently closed works in order to identify and justify the key challenging features composing such a design framework. The obtained results are conceptually and practically valuable.
