Abstract

Why do people overestimate the size of minority groups? Kardosh et al. (KSGPH) offered one answer: Minority group members are especially salient in perception and memory. This paper is part of a larger literature that explains misestimates based on features of the groups being estimated—e.g., whether members of a group are perceived as threatening, encountered frequently in daily life, or salient.
