Abstract

The global chrysanthemum industry has witnessed significant growth, driven by increasing demand and the widespread use of chrysanthemums as cut flowers and potted flowering plants, along with their cultural and religious significance. Chrysanthemums are a major export commodity within the floriculture industry, contributing substantially to global trade. The success of this trade is supported by an efficient supply chain, particularly cold-chain logistics, which ensures long-distance transportation. In this chapter, we will explore the global production of chrysanthemums, including recent import and export values. We will also discuss the various types of commercial chrysanthemums, the different cultivation methods employed, and the profound meaning, symbolism, and significance of chrysanthemums across cultures worldwide. Additionally, the multifaceted uses of chrysanthemums are discussed, highlighting their versatile role in ornamental horticulture, religious, and cultural practices.
