Theory of Trait Activation
Abstract
This chapter aims to synthesize the existing body of research regarding trait activation theory (TAT) in tourism and hospitality research through a systematic literature review (SLR) and provide potential avenues for future investigation. It is based on an SLR of academic articles in the Web of Science database. The results show a noticeable increase in academic production on this topic, particularly in recent years. In the tourism and hospitality literature, TAT has most often been applied to understand employee attitudes and behaviors. Finally, the vast majority of empirical studies on this subject utilize a survey-based quantitative research method.
