Abstract

The Structure–Conduct–Performance (SCP) model is a frequently used framework for analyzing the tourism and accommodation sectors. The major components of the model (structure, conduct, performance) make it possible to examine the sector’s competitive conditions. The sector’s market structure (firm density, entrance hurdles, product differentiation) has a significant impact on competitiveness. Furthermore, competitive techniques, such as pricing and promotion, rely heavily on corporate strategic conduct. Researchers can analyze sector dynamics using indicators of company performance, such as profitability and customer happiness, as well as their applications in tourism and accommodation research. In this part, all components of the SCP model are assessed against the backdrop of current research. Furthermore, ideas for potential applications of the paradigm in the realms of technology and sustainability are proposed.
