Abstract

Plant biology has been one of the many scientific disciplines artificial intelligence (AI) has quickly revolutionized in recent years. Plant proteomics, the large-scale study of proteins within plant systems, stands to benefit immensely from AI-driven innovations, offering new pathways to understand plant physiology, adaptation, and growth at a molecular level. This chapter focuses on a comprehensive exploration of the role of AI in advancing plant proteomics. It delves into the digital transformation of proteomics, presenting state-of-the-art machine learning and deep learning approaches for protein identification, quantitative analysis, functional annotation, and protein–protein interaction prediction. The chapter further explores integrative AI approaches, personalized plant proteomics for crop improvement, and multi-omics data integration, all aimed at pushing the boundaries of plant science.
