Abstract

Traditional methods of weed management often lead to herbicide overuse, environmental harm, and the emergence of herbicide-resistant weed species. To address these challenges, smart spraying systems equipped with sensor technology and advanced AI models have emerged, offering sustainable, site-specific weed control solutions, which are collectively referred to as deep learning (DL). Despite the similarities between crops and weeds, DL techniques show promising results in extracting and distinguishing traits. This chapter emphasizes DL-driven weed management, highlighting the possibility of real-time weed detection, high-accuracy classification, and control of weeds.
