Towards reconceptualising education and schooling based on trustworthy relations
Abstract
I propose a fundamental change in the way we see the world. Instead of seeing the world in terms of true propositions, I propose we see it in terms of relations that are trustworthy for a purpose in selected evolving traditions. Specifically, I suggest that we replace ‘truth’ with ‘trust’ as a condition of knowledge. This could lead to a reconceptualization of ‘education’ and ‘schooling’. Some current crises in Australian society may lead to situations in which such a reconceptualization could improve the education of participants in evolving traditions.
