Numerical analysis of a second-order method for a nonlinear diffusive SIR epidemic model with a saturated incidence rate in a heterogeneous environment
Abstract
This paper investigates the numerical threshold stability of a nonlinear diffusive SIR epidemic model. A second-order numerical scheme is established, which can preserve biological meanings of the model. A numerical threshold R0Δx is proposed, which preserves the properties of the exact stability threshold and converges to the latter. It is demonstrated that the numerical disease-free equilibrium is locally asymptotically stable when R0Δx
