Abstract

A promising alternative is the reuse of condensate water produced by air conditioning systems, which offers a clean and cost-effective solution to water supply. In southern Iran, air conditioners are used for about one-third of the year due to the region’s high heat and humidity. The objective of this study is to investigate the quantity and quality of water extracted from air conditioners in Bahregan region of Bushehr province, Iran. In the present study, an experimental model was developed to estimate condensate water production. Over 30 days in August 2023, condensate water was collected and analysed to assess the physical and chemical quality. The average amount of water produced for all air conditioners studied was 96,486 L daily. The physical and chemical characteristics of the condensate water met the WHO, USEPA, and Iranian standards to be used to irrigate the green space. Furthermore, the findings indicate that scaling up this approach for industrial use is feasible.
