Two new species of free-living marine nematodes (Nematoda) from the Yellow Sea, China
Abstract
Two new species of free-living marine nematodes were collected in the Yellow Sea, China, and they are described here as Bathylaimus sinensis sp. n. and Desmolaimus papillatus sp. n. Bathylaimus sinensis sp. n. is characterised by dimorphism tail (conical in males, conico-cylindrical in females); long outer labial setae four-segmented, with binary-shaped tip; transversely oval amphidial fovea located at the level of buccal cavity base; large buccal cavity divided into two portions, anterior portion wide and barrel-shaped, without tooth, posterior portion small, narrowly conoid, with a dorsal tooth; nail-shaped spicules slightly curved, proximally cephalated, gradually tapering to a pointed tip; large gubernaculum kidney-shaped with sclerotised conical tip; conical tail with a pair of long subdorsal setae nearly terminal end in males and conico-cylindrical without caudal setae in females. Desmolaimus papillatus sp. n. is characterised by a relatively large body with elongated conico-cylindrical tail; cuticle finely striated; six outer labial setae 2 µm long, four cephalic setae 4–5 µm long, located near the apex; amphidial fovea circular, situated posterior to the base of buccal cavity; buccal cavity with cuticularized transverse rings; pharynx with posterior bulb; short spicules arcuated with ventral velum; gubernaculum with dorso-caudal apophyses; three papilliform precloacal supplements, and tail of males with 6–7 midventral papilliform protrusions on the anterior conical portion.http://www.zoobank.org/urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:2A97D2CA-50E9-4021-A89E-88366FE6F162
