Second contribution of the weevil fauna (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) from the Kurdistan region of Iraq, with new records and a synonymy
Abstract
New data are reported on the Curculionoidea fauna of Iraqi Kurdistan based on surveys in different localities of the region during the years 2021–2024. In total, 75 species were found of which 44 are newly recorded for Iraq. Localities, collecting data, plant association, and distribution are given for each species. Polydrusus roseiceps is moved to the subgenus Denticonocetus Germann, comb. subgen. nov. from the subgenus Scythodrusus Korotyaev and Meleshko. The new synonymy Phyllobius betulinus hellenicus Apfelbeck, [= P. nudiamplus pinkeri syn. nov.] is established.
