Notes on Listener Crossword 4830, ‘take two or three', by Oyler
Abstract
This note looks at the mathematics underlying a numerical version of The Listener Crossword (Number 4830: ‘take Two or Three’ by Oyler). The puzzle requires solvers to find sets of three numbers such that the sum of each pair, and the sum of all three is a triangle number. A particular method is developed for finding some solutions to this problem, and readers are invited to investigate the problem further in order to find other solution sets.
