Impact of screened potentials on above-threshold ionization spectra of Krypton atom
Abstract
This article investigates the effects of plasma screening on the interaction between a femtosecond Gaussian laser pulse and a Kr atom, employing a soft core Coulomb potential influenced by both a screened Coulomb potential (SCP) and an exponentially cosine screened Coulomb potential (ECSCP), respectively. The time-dependent Schrödinger equation (TDSE) is numerically solved using the single active electron approximation and the Crank–Nicolson method to simulate the temporal evolution of the wavefunction and to assess the probability of ground state population over time. Plasma screening effect on the energy eigenvalues and ionization probabilities with the progression of laser pulse is shown at various laser intensities. The ionization probabilities depend significantly on these parameters and laser intensities, showcasing how the external environment modifies atomic ionization dynamics. In particular, above-threshold ionization (ATI) spectra show intensity-dependent red shifts and noticeable deviations between SCP and ECSCP cases. Our results and analysis enhance our understanding of atomic behavior in plasma-embedded laser interactions.
