Luminescence dynamics and structural modifications in Dy3 + /Eu 3+ co-doped KCaF 3 fluoroperovskite: an insight into energy transfer mechanisms
Abstract
This study reports the successful synthesis of Dy3+/Eu3+ co-doped KCaF3 phosphor via the solid-state reaction method for applications in white light-emitting diodes (LEDs). X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the phase purity, and SEM revealed agglomerated morphologies. Under 351 nm excitation, Dy3+-doped samples exhibited prominent emissions at 487 (blue) and 576 nm (yellow), while Eu3+-doped samples showed strong orange-red emissions at 595 and 614 nm. Co-doping produced blue, yellow, and red emissions, thereby facilitating the generation of white light. Photoluminescence (PL) studies revealed energy transfer from Dy3+ to Eu3+ with CIE coordinates supporting tunable color output. These phosphors are promising for UV-pumped white and reddish-orange light-emitting devices.
