Thermal and mass transfer analysis of Carreau fluid flow in a microchannel with Buongiorno model: a comparative study
Abstract
This study concentrates on the analysis of mass and thermal transfer properties of Carreau fluid flow through an upright channel. The Buongiorno model is effective for explaining Brownian motion and thermophoresis slip mechanisms. The Hall current and exponential heat source were considered. Convective boundary condition and slip regime were explored at the boundaries. The scrutiny bifurcated for the flow includes various effects implied on the liquid flowing based on the consequences of Newtonian fluid and non-Newtonian liquid. The non-dimensionalised equations are obtained by employing a nondimensional system and are further resolved by utilising the shooting approach and the fourth- to fifth-order Runge–Kutta–Fehlberg approaches. The obtained outcome shows that the amplified Hall parameter improves the secondary flow profile. Improving the exponential heat source parameter immediately influences the thermal profile, culminating in a higher temperature field. A channel flow analysis compares Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids (Carreau fluid). The Carreau fluid performs better in terms of thermal field and entropy generation than the Newtonian fluid.
