Abstract

Less attention has been paid to the therapeutic qualities of mobilities and place among senior seasonal migrants. The main purpose of this study is to investigate how outdoor leisure involvement interacts with place integration and health perception and whether functional attachment moderates these relationships among senior seasonal migrants. The empirical findings indicate that leisure involvement positively influences social integration, cultural acceptance, psychological integration, and economic adaptation. Social integration and cultural acceptance mediate the relationship between leisure involvement and health perceptions. The effect of leisure involvement on social integration, cultural acceptance, and psychological integration will strengthen for senior seasonal migrants with high (vs. low) levels of functional attachment, which in turn affect health perceptions. With the empirical results, theoretical and managerial implications are discussed.
