Abstract

This systematic review followed the PRISMA guidelines and identified 29 articles from Scopus, PsychInfo, and Web of Science. The Theory, Context, Characteristic, and Methodology (TCCM) framework was followed to identify results. Salient findings included: Couples and Finances Theory (CFT) was the most commonly employed theory; the Couples Satisfaction Index was the most popular scale for measuring relationship satisfaction; and financial conflict, financial deception, and materialism were all negatively associated with couple relationship satisfaction. The results have implications for researchers and practitioners for improving couple relationship quality by developing interventions to reduce the influence of these negative financial factors.
