Biogenic MgO/CuO-MgO nanoparticles from lemon extract for enhanced electrochemical and photocatalytic performance
Abstract
The solution combustion method was used to synthesized the pure MgO and 2, 4, 6 and 8 mol% of CuO doped MgO nanoparticles. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using various spectral analytical methods. XRD examination showed that the MgO nanoparticle with CuO altered the physical properties, such as crystallite size and lattice parameters of MgO nanoparticles and the bandgap observed from 4.24 eV ± 0.02 to 4.41 ± 0.02 eV for various mol% of CuO-doped MgO NPs was seen in UV-Vis spectroscopy.CV and EIS results shows excellent electrochemical properties of synthesized nanoparticles doped with various mol % of CuO, which detect effectively diclofenac utilizing modified graphite electrodes. When exposed to UV-Vis light, these materials demonstrated excellent photocatalytic activity (PCA) for the degradation of Drimaren Blue (DB) dye. These results indicates that 6 mol% produced MgO:Cu is a promising option for electrochemical diclofenac sensing and wastewater treatment.
