Shade dispersion in partial shading and mismatch loss reduction in PV array with improved odd-even reconfiguration
Abstract
This investigation suggests an Improved Odd-Even (IOE) structure for the circuit architecture of PV systems working in partial shading scenarios (PSSs). The connection and physical positioning of the panels in a PV array are modified from the total-cross-tied (TCT) configuration based on the Improved Odd-Even (IOE) structure to diffuse the PSS effects across the entire array. The suggested topology also uses a specially created complementary diagonal circuit layout to reduce the common corner-shading patterns in a PV array, which are typically brought on by the direction of the sunlight or mutual module shading. The output of a PV array constructed using the suggested IOE structure is analyzed and compared with the TCT configuration and Odd-Even (OE) reconfiguration for the purpose of validation. Six shading scenarios are taken into consideration. The evaluation results demonstrated that the IOE offers higher power enhancement ranging from 1.34% to 11.08% over OE reconfiguration. The percentage power enhancement of the proposed reconfiguration over all conventional techniques ranges from 1.55% to 28.21%. The simplicity of the P-V curves, ease of implementation with straightforward rules, and lower cost of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) are all benefits of the suggested approach.
