Design and Analysis of QKD-based Free Space Optic Link Under Various Clouds Conditions
Abstract
This study presents the reliability of free space optic (FSO) link in the presence of various cloud conditions. This paper uses the hybrid combination of wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques. Additionally, the transmission and reception are amplified by the erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA). The security of the proposed system is handled using the quantum key distribution (QKD) technique. QKD techniques securely share encryption keys based on quantum principles. The proposed framework attains transmission ranges across different cloud circumstances 98 m for cumulus, 208 m for stratus, 300 m for stratocumulus, 125 m for altostratus, and 145 m for nimbostratus. The results were derived by assessing performance metrics, including bit error rate (BER) and the Q factor.
