Abstract

Inequalities perpetuated and normalized over time are consolidated as manifestations of injustice. To study socio-spatial (in)justice in informal settlements, using a multidimensional framework, we formulated the research question: ‘How are socio-spatial (in)justices manifested in informal settlements, taking into consideration social, economic, environmental and political dimensions?’ This led to the development of a study in Barrio Sinai, an informal settlement on the outskirts of San José (Costa Rica). This research proposes a methodological contribution to analyze injustices from a systemic and humanistic perspective in order for authorities and/or institutions to propose solutions in territorial management decisions.
