Abstract

In this paper, a microwave metagrating for perfect anomalous reflection is proposed based on the discrete sheet impedance approach. The design avoids the use of lumped elements and does not rely on complex full-wave optimization, enabling efficient beam steering through numerically optimized surface impedances. At 8 GHz, the structure achieves high-efficiency anomalous reflection toward 65° and 70°, with reflection efficiencies exceeding 99%. Compared to previous works, this design demonstrates that discrete impedance-based metagratings can be applied effectively at microwave frequencies without lumped components, offering a fabrication-friendly solution for practical beam control applications.
