Abstract

Aim The aim of this study was to explore the influence of nurse-led family interactive psychological intervention on negative emotions and treatment coordination degree of hospitalized children with bronchial asthma (BA).Design Prospective randomized controlled trial. Methods 91 children with BA and their primary caregivers in the hospital from January 2023 to December 2025 were collected by convenience sampling method as study subjects. Children were completely randomized into two groups based on the random number table method. 45 children formed control group and received routine nursing, and the remaining 46 children constituted intervention group and implemented nurse-led family interactive psychological intervention in addition to nursing in control group. The primary clinical outcome was Test for Respiratory and Asthma Control in Kids (TRACK), and the secondary clinical outcomes included Child Medical Fear Scale (CMFS), children’ s medication compliance questionnaire, and Family Caregiver Task Inventory (FCTI).Results The TRACK score in intervention group and control group was statistically significant from the aspect of interaction effect (p = 0.008), and there was an interaction between time effect and grouping effect (p < 0.001). Simple effect analysis found that the TRACK scores at 1 day before discharge, 1 month after discharge and 3 months after discharge in intervention group with (80.52 ± 3.88) points, (84.20 ± 3.64) points, (88.54 ± 3.95) points were higher compared with (77.11 ± 5.61) points, (79.62 ± 4.66) points and (82.80 ± 4.55) points in control group (all p < 0.05). The CMFS score exhibited a statistical significance at 4 time points (Wald χ2 = 251.62, p < 0.001). The CMFS scores on the 2nd day of admission and the 3rd day of admission and at 1 day before discharge were lower in intervention group than those in control group (all p < 0.05). The score of children’ s medication compliance questionnaire in intervention group at 1 day before discharge was higher while the FCTI score was lower compared to control group (both p < 0.001).Conclusion This study suggests that nurse-led family interactive psychological intervention can reduce the medical fear of hospitalized children with BA, and enhance the medication compliance and family care ability of children.
