Abstract

Impostor syndrome has been studied and discussed in library literature for some time, but its relevance to librarianship may be increasing with the rapid developments in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies. Because of the technological nature of technical services work, AI’s impact on imposter syndrome in this area of librarianship is an important consideration. This column briefly explores what imposter syndrome is and some of the symptoms. It discusses how the rise of AI may impact imposter syndrome. This column also highlights strategies that can be used to mitigate the effects of imposter syndrome.
