Abstract

In this essay, I reflect on my journey into psychoanalysis, sparked by a childhood fascination with Freud. Despite early struggles, my interest in psychoanalysis persisted through various career aspirations. A personal crisis led me to therapy, eventually solidifying my decision to become an analyst. Clinical experiences, including a pivotal failure with a patient, forced me to rethink my approach. Embracing Self Psychology and relational psychoanalysis, I shifted focus from theory to therapeutic relationships, ultimately finding a deeper, more meaningful practice.
