The transformative power of technology: Key innovations and trends in education and learning organizations
Abstract
This study examines the coevolution of technological integration and educational innovation over the past two decades, mapping their intellectual landscape through a bibliometric analysis of 922 publications (2000–2024) from the Web of Science Core Collection using VOSviewer and RStudio. The analysis explores publication trends, citation structures, and influential authors, institutions, countries, and keywords, revealing four thematic clusters: (1) technological integration and active learning, focusing on student-centered approaches; (2) digital tools, project-based learning, STEAM, and AI in higher education, highlighting interdisciplinary pedagogy; (3) online education, MOOCs, learning analytics, and personal learning management; and (4) continuous professional development for teachers, underscoring the need for training in technology adoption. The findings provide policymakers and educators with insights to align technology with pedagogical goals, address gaps such as inconsistent teacher readiness and fragmented implementation, and promote integration, lifelong learning, and culturally sensitive design to ensure technology supports empowerment and systemic reform.
