Time-resolved schlieren imaging of a shock wave induced by laser microexplosion for small-dose explosive evaluation of detonation
Abstract
Rapid evaluation of detonation properties of small-dose explosive is an important support for the development of new explosive. In this study, laser-induced micro-explosion reaction processes of nine type monomolecular explosives (CHON explosives) were studied by time-resolved schlieren imaging to extract the shock wave velocities, and systematically analyzed the energy release characteristics such as characteristic velocity and temperature. These explosives were characterized with the characteristic velocities of 730.81–844.68 m/s and reaction temperatures of 3401.3–4083.2 K. The detonation performance parameters, such as detonation velocity and detonation pressure, were evaluated by the characteristic parameters of various explosives, and the corresponding evaluation models were established. The correlation is positive and relatively strong with R2 = 0.994 for detonation velocity and R2 = 0.984 for detonation pressure. The results of 2,4,6-triamino-5-nitropyrimidine-1,3-dioxide(ICM102) explosive indicated that the characteristic parameters such as shock wave velocity of laser-induced micro-explosion reaction have important value in evaluating the detonation performance, providing an analytical method for rapidly evaluating the detonation performance of small-dose new explosives.
