Ocean crossing
Abstract
This poem examines intergenerational immigrant experience in the United States, pushing sacrifice and arrival against ongoing precarity. Through images of cheap labor, schooling, and paperwork, it exposes how belonging remains conditional and legality discretionary. Migration emerges not as a completed journey, but as a persistent state inherited by the next generation.
