Abstract

Sport coaches are being asked to do, know, and take on more than ever before. This has placed more stress and strain on coaches and, due to a variety of related reasons, many are leaving their careers. Given the nationwide coaching shortages, it is now even more important to find and keep good coaches in the system. The purpose of this article is to inform athletic administrators about the importance of coaches’ perceived support and provide recommendations for ways to increase it within their departments.
