Abstract

Skill-and-drill, technique-focused, multi-activity approaches are the traditional methods of teaching sports in physical education. These approaches emphasize repetitive, decontextualized drills aimed at improving technique, often conducted in short units that do not allow enough time for meaningful skill development. Game-based approaches (GBAs) have demonstrated advantages over traditional methods in enhancing student learning in physical education. This article provides guidance on how to teach track and field using the game-based approach known as Play Practice.
